Show your support for a voluntary society and the nonaggression axiom of liberty with our original "I believe in a voluntary society" design t-shirts designed by Dan McCall.
The design sports a voluntaryist flag, which is a variation of historical flags associated with movements of anti statism and anarchism. Sometimes called the "ANCAP" flag, the banner waves across the center in gold and black, with the the motto "Universalize Nonviolence" at bottom. The design has become a popular image of activists and liberty lovers across the world since its inception years ago.
Discussing the design, McCall describes why he used this imagery:
The interesting thing about this particular variation of the old black flag, which from what I understand was meant to fly counter to the idea of surrender, and is widely understood as the anarchist's banner, is that the people associating with it made one very interesting and important distinction in their opposition to the state. That difference was the idea that nonviolence was a first principle that should organize society. Even as a kid, and later in the academic world, I was attracted to philosophy that held a consistent application of principles. The idea of a voluntary society, it would seem, rests on not only on the liberty to do this or that according to one's volition, but on the guideline that such liberty is constrained by a universal application of nonviolent behavior. It's a very simple concept - that free cooperation relies on nonaggression and the absence of coercion. But that doesn't mean that the ramifications of accepting it are easy to understand.
