The Florida state flag is a red saltire over a white field with the state seal in the center, surrounded by a red ring with the words "Great Seal of the State of Florida" on the top and "In God We Trust" on the bottom. The state seal features a Seminole woman spreading flowers in the foreground and a steamboat on a river in the background. The state seal is encircled by an orange blossom wreath with a ribbon at the base bearing the state motto "In God We Trust."
The current design of the Florida state flag was officially adopted in 1985, however, the state of Florida has had many flags over time. In 1868, a new flag was adopted featuring the state seal on a white field. This flag remained in use for 32 years until the current flag concept was adopted in 1900. Since then slight adjustments have been made to the design.
