The original six-color desert camo, before it became the “chocolate chip” pattern.
This heavyweight desert camouflage hoodie reproduces the experimental 1972 U.S. six-color desert pattern developed for arid warfare. The early version used an unusual mix of sand, brown, pale green, black and off-white forms that would later evolve into the Desert Battle Dress Uniform pattern made famous during the Gulf War.
Our version goes back to the beginning. Dan redrew the pattern by hand from a vintage USAF flight jacket, preserving the odd shapes, early color palette and Cold War character of the original camouflage.
The pattern is printed across a substantial 330 GSM brushed-fleece hoodie with a smooth fabric face, relaxed fit and enough weight to give the garment a more structured drape. The double-lined hood carries the camouflage inside and out, while flat black drawstrings, metal eyelets and metal aglets finish it off.
