  • War is Peace Freedom Is Slavery Ignorance Is Strength 1984 Big Brother Print

In the World of George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four, Airstrip One is brutally lorded over by the one-party government of Big Brother and INGSOC. All forms of dissent, even down to peoples' facial expressions or questioning thoughts were a crime. In the novel, the INGSOC Party's official motto is War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength. It's the ultimate slogan of an empire of lies where the very notions behind words like freedom are inverted to their opposite. The story's protagonist Winston Smith works at Airstrip One's Ministry of Truth, where the government decides what the day's politically correct truth is, and anything going against the regime's narrative is thrown down Ministry memory holes to be burned in furnaces.  Those who even think against the most current truth are thought criminals that at any moment can be made unpersons, disappearing from public life or existence altogether.

This print is a minimal and chic way to elevate your space. The artwork stands out from any angle as the matte museum-quality paper diffuses the light.
