Mondale Ferraro 1984 Reproduction Campaign Dad Hat

Just before the contentious 1984 Democratic Convention in San Francisco, the Mondale campaign commissioned a new logo to strike out against incumbent Ronald Reagan and solidify what was a tight race between him and Gary Hart.

Just after the ruckus at the Democratic National Convention in mid-July, Geraldine Ferraro was added to the ticket making her the first email VP ever from either the Republicans or Democrats. The Libertarians beat them both to the punch, of course, with Tonie Nathan nominated as VP in 1972 and 1976. But for the big two parties in the USA, Ferraro made a large splash even though America wasn't quite on board yet.

Considered fairly impressive for the time, the new Mondale/Ferraro for America logo started popping up all over America. You can't find too many around anymore.

In fact, we're not even sure nice hats like this were made. We haven't been able to find any in collections. So "reproduction" might not exactly be accurate.

Of course, in the end, it was all a moot point anyway. Mondale was trounced by Ronald Reagan, hilariously only taking Liberty Maniac's home state of Minnesota.

But f you're looking for an otherwise impossible-to-find 100% accurate Mondale `84 campaign hat, you can count on us.
