  • Desert Camo DCU Reversible BucketHat

Have you heard of the Desert Battle Dress Uniform camouflage, or DBDU for short? It's a real mouthful, but basically, it's the United States' arid-environment battle uniform that looks like a coffee stain (yes, you heard that right).

The DBDU was developed to replace the "chocolate-chip camouflage" uniform, which apparently didn't cut it in most desert combat theaters. I mean, who knew that desert warfare required a specific type of chocolatey camouflage?

Anyway, the DCU (that's the official name, in case you were wondering) was designed for a lower, more open, and less rocky desert battlefield space. You know, the kind of desert where you can't find a single rock to hide behind. Which, coincidentally, was the most common type of desert battlefield space during the Persian Gulf War.

And while the U.S. military has moved on from the DCU, militaries across the world are still rocking this coffee-stain look as of the early 2010s. Who says fashion has to be practical, right?

So there you have it, folks. The Desert Camouflage Pattern, or as we like to call it, the "coffee stain camouflage". Who knows, maybe one day it'll come back in style.
