These prints were brought to their original beauty by Dan in 2021 from the original at the Library of Congress. In fairly bad shape originally, the lithograph had darkened considerably, which we thought was quite beautiful. But for these, we wanted very bright Giclee prints that could be mounted on any wall and really pop.
Each is printed on museum-quality archival matte paper rated for over 100 years. They look incredible up close. Dan was able to bring back Graham's precise strokes with every detail, and most importantly recall the original vibrance of the inks. So for instance on the shield, the red stripes have been restored along with the deep blue of the above field.
The original commission by Andrew B. Graham in 1890. The prints show the great seal of the United States; a bald eagle clutching an olive branch in the claw on the left and thirteen arrows in the claw on the right, on its breast is a shield with chief of blue and with white and red stripes, in its beak is a banner with the motto "E Pluribus Unum", meaning “Out of many, one” and at the top a cockade with thirteen stars framed by clouds.
