Most camouflage tries to hide the ship. Dazzle camouflage made the ship lie.
During the First World War, Allied vessels were painted with sharp angles and broken geometry to confuse enemy observers about their course, speed, and range. The ship remained visible. Figuring out where it was going became the problem. It was what happened when a Cubist got a defense contract.
We brought that glorious experiment in visual warfare ashore as a heavyweight jacquard-knit cardigan. The design is knitted into the garment, giving its geometry real texture and definition. At 450 g/m², it has the substantial feel of proper knitwear and a relaxed unisex fit that works over a T-shirt or collared shirt.
A century later, it somehow still looks futuristic.
If anyone can accurately estimate your course and speed, they’re standing too close.
• 55% cotton, 45% polyester
• Heavyweight 13.27 oz./yd.² fabric (450 g/m²)
• Jacquard-knit construction
• Relaxed unisex fit
• Full button front
• Machine wash cold and lay flat to dry
Colors may vary slightly due to the complexity of the knitted pattern. The cardigan may shrink slightly after its first wash.
