The Milton Glaser 1966 poster of Bob Dylan with kaleidoscopic hair is of the 20th Century's most iconic. If you bought Dylan's `67 Greatest Hits album, you actually got one of these folded inside the cover. (If you kept it in good condition, it's worth a lot.) Interestingly enough, this was one of the first poster designs Glaser even did. Pretty good start to a legendary career.
One of Milton's signed posters sits in our office. Dylan was from Minnesota, like myself, and actually dated the mother of my best friend's girlfriend growing up. I remember his son would come and play shows at my college, and Bob would come watch. In any event, everyday I look at this poster of rainbow tresses sipping my coffee, always thinking it would be fun to do a version of this with someone else. But I couldn't think of a subject that would fit.
Then came Donald Trump and Bernie Sander's 2016 presidential campaign. Good lord, I thought, this! It's almost as if the keys to success in 2016 was crazy hair. Here's my opportunity to pay homage to Glaser, and have a little fun with one of the craziest campaigns in modern history.
So with great love and apologies to the master Glaser, I give you Bernie Sanders in his hirsute, psychedelic glory. Limited Edition. Also available in Trump.
