Understanding Human Nature. Improving Upon It.

The Human Ecology Fund was a real CIA front organization that helped finance MKUltra, the agency's sprawling Cold War adventure in drugs, psychological manipulation, and discovering just how much abuse a human mind could withstand before the paperwork became inconvenient.

Under the respectable cover of scientific philanthropy, the Fund channeled money into universities and hospitals, including psychiatrist Ewen Cameron's experiments at McGill, where psychiatric patients were subjected to massive electroshock treatments, drug-induced sleep, and recorded messages played thousands of times in an attempt to dismantle and rebuild their personalities.

Some patients suffered devastating, permanent injuries.

All in the noble pursuit of human understanding.

The CIA destroyed most of its MKUltra records in 1973. The Human Ecology Fund disappeared. The people who survived the experiments weren't afforded the same luxury of forgetting.

Our Human Ecology Fund T-shirt features a recreation of the organization's original three-profile emblem, updated with its later name.
