How to Watch the September 12th Democratic Presidential Debate

T​en of the Democratic presidential candidates will take the stage Thursday evening in Houston for the third debate, with former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Elizabeth Warren facing off against each other for the first time.

What time is the debate?
It will air from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. CT on ABC and Univision.

Who is moderating the debate?
The candidates won't face any Republican moderators but will face friendly faces like former Clinton aid and ABC​ News’​ George Stephanopoulos, anchor of ABC World News Tonight David Muir, Linsey Davis and Univision’s Jorge Ramos.

​​Where is the debate being held?
I​t will take place at Texas Southern University.

Who Made the Cut?
The 10 candidates certified by the Democratic National Committee to participate in the debate will appear on stage in the following order, from left to right:

  • Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar
  • New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker
  • South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg
  • Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders
  • Former Vice President Joe Biden
  • Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren
  • California Sen. Kamala Harris
  • Entrepreneur Andrew Yang
  • Former Texas Rep. Beto O'Rourke
  • Former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro

  • What is the debate format?
    Candidates will be given 75 seconds to address direct questions and 45 seconds for responses and rebuttals. They will be allowed to make an opening statement, but not a closing statement.

    Will it be livestreamed?
    The streaming channel is available on the ABCNews.com, Good Morning America and FiveThirtyEight websites and mobile phone apps, as well as on Hulu Live, The Roku Channel, Facebook Watch, AppleTV, Amazon Fire TV, YouTube, Apple News, and Twitter.

    Who is expected to get the most speaking time?
    Biden and Warren are expected to dominate because it’s the first time the two have shared the debate stage. In the earlier debates, they appeared on separate nights. Biden, who’s leading in the polls, needs a strong night to keep his campaign’s momentum and is expected to challenge the Massachusetts senator. Warren, who has been rising in the polls, may also be the target of other candidates trying to knock her down a peg. The other candidates will be looking for any chance to break out among the crowded field.

    What issues will be discussed?
    Gun control issues will likely come up after the mass shootings in Ohio and Texas last month and because there has been a lot of pressure on Congress and the Trump administration to come up with measures to stem the violence. ​​Health care has also been a major topic during the campaign.

    When are the next Democratic debates?
    The next contest is scheduled for Oct. 15 and possibly Oct. 16, depending on how many candidates make the cut. Eleven so far have qualified. Then in November and December, but details haven’t been released.
